2005
Season
January
The 2005-year
started with the usual selection of officer and committee
members, with Mr. Andy Lindsey once again charging the AGM.
The charity chosen for the 2005 season was Foyle Downs Syndrome.
The previous years charity Marie Curie was donated 5000 pounds
and 100 to the Rainbow Cat and Dog home. Once again January
sees the preparations get underway for the static show in
April.
February
By
February’s meeting there had already been a committee
meeting to prepare for the show. The raffle tickets went on
sale for the static show. The club also had a visit by Mr.
Ashley McGinnis of DVLNI to discuss Sorn or any relevant topics.
March
March
saw further preparations for the show with the purchase of
more signs etc, and all prizes secured. March also seen the
start of preparation by members going to Moffet in Scotland
get under way. The clubs run out was also in March to the
Donegal clubs show in letterkenny on Easter Sunday. March
finish on a sad note with the death of Mr. William Hutchinson
on the 22nd of the month.
April
April saw
the static show pass off successfully once again with £5389
being collected on the day. John Nixon expressed his thanks
to all that helped on the day. The Ballyliney weekend in April
was a real success with all attending really enjoying it.
Thanks to Tommy Finlay for the treasure hunt on Saturday and
also William Hepburn & Roy Ferguson for a great barbie
a great night was had by all who attended
May
May got off
to a start with the Mayors parade in Limavady, which was slightly
better, organized than last year. Thanks to Martin Henderson
for his successful run to mailin on Sunday the 29th –
There were 29 vehicles on this run.
June
The first
run in June organized by the chairman was to Barons cort returning
to Limavady for a meal in the AA hotel. There seems to have
been some confusion at this run as some members got lost.
The monthly meeting in June was held in the Point Bar Magilligan
(Thanks to Owen McLaughlin) with Gerry O’Neil presenting
John Nixon with a map. The coastal run on the 26th June had
a small attendance but enjoyed good weather and BBQ afterwards
in Pat and Debbie’s garden.
July
July saw
the club members attend different events. Those who went to
Scotland to the Moffat show really enjoyed the event. Again
a lot of members attended the Moville show. The Downings run
in July was enjoyed by all who attended. Finishing with a
meal in the Ocean View Hotel.
August
The run by
Sharon and Ken Curry to Glentier via the Fin Valley Railway
was a real success and really enjoyed by all who attended.
August also saw members participate at the CCMC weekend and
Marshal on the Sunday. 8 members attended the Dorset Steam
Fair in August Also.

September
September
saw the William Hutchinson Memorial run. To Downing via the
garda station in Letterkenny for a visit organized by John,
Joan and Erica King. The meal was held in the Ocean view hotel
with 69 adults and 1 child for the meal. The morning teas
were provided by Ken and Sharon and the Happy Landing. There
was a one off finishers award for this run organized by John
Nixon, which featured Willie Hutchinson’s RME Riley
on a mug. There was a few heart wrenching speeches after the
meal but the day passed off really well. September also saw
members attend the garvagh show, none went to Kilbroney, but
some members also attended first Ballymoney show.

October
October was
a quiet month. The Christmas dinner dance tickets went on
sale. The Halloween dance organized by Erica King in the Happy
Landing was again a success raising £236 on the night.
November
November
was a quiet month except for the monthly meeting. Thanks to
Pat Dixon and Ken Curry for the quiz at this meeting. It was
November the club was notified all runs must be organized
with the parade commissions permission.
December
In December
we received word the AOVC are trying to fight the ruling regarding
the Parades commission. The Christmas dinner-dance was again
held in the Broomhill Hotel. Again this was a very enjoyable
night with an excellent meal. Once again I think the raffle
did very well on the night. |
